Who am I?
Hi everyone, I am Phuong Anh, but to the Learn2Link (L2L) community, I am more familiar as "Cindy." I am 17, and I am now a high school student in Vietnam. I enjoy doing crafts and DIY things. I love making bracelets, necklaces, and I also have a full collection of reusable hair wraps that I made myself. I have a huge interest in languages. There are some languages that I know a bit, such as Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and recently I'm also learning French. Lately, I'm taking guitar courses, and I really enjoy playing it. So, I hope one day I can master playing the electric guitar.

Why did I link?
I'm studying at Thuan Hoa High School, and that's where I first met Abby and Josh and learned about the L2L program. I [discovered] this program involves students from both Vietnam and the U.S., and we collaborate on projects aimed at helping our communities. As someone who loves languages, especially English, and cultural differences, I was really drawn to this program. I'm quite an introvert myself, so I was a bit hesitant at first. But then I realized that I’ll be turning 18 next year and will be going to university. I knew it was time for me to step out of my comfort zone. I saw L2L as a chance to experience new things, learn new skills, and grow, so I gathered all my courage and applied. Now, I’m part of the L2L community. Yay!

What did I learn?
Lesson 1: Improving communication skills
During my time with the L2L community, I’ve learned a lot. The first lesson is improving my English skills. English is the subject I’m most confident in at school, and my teachers often compliment me. I used to think that my English was good enough for communication, but I’ve realized there are still moments when I struggle to express my feelings or ideas. However, everyone in the L2L community has been so supportive, and no one makes me feel insecure about my English. They encourage me to share my feelings more and talk freely, and I really appreciate that.
Lesson 2: Developing project management skills
Another important lesson was learning how to come up with and organize a project. At first, I thought creating a project to help the community would be easy, but I quickly realized there are many factors to consider. We need to think about the practicality, how to actualize the project, whether it’s meaningful, and if it’s useful to the community. I also learned the importance of staying calm and mindful in every situation. Even if a plan seems perfect, problems may arise during the process. The key is to stay calm, think consciously and logically, and find solutions. There’s no need to stress.

How have I grown?
When I first joined, I was very nervous and even a bit stressed talking to everyone. But now, I’m much more comfortable and confident speaking with others. This has really helped me improve my communication skills. I’m grateful for how the L2L community has been part of my journey. L2L has helped me improve myself, become a better version of myself, and grow in maturity. I’ve learned how to adjust my expectations, handle different situations, and communicate better with everyone. The support and kindness I’ve received from the L2L community have been invaluable. They’ve given me advice, encouragement, and made me feel better about myself.
